Jesus is Born

Scripture: Luke 2:6-21

When the angel surprised the shepherds in the field and told them the good news about the birth of Jesus, the prophecy of the coming Messiah was complete. As we reflect on the birth story of Jesus, we try to imagine what it must have been like to witness the newborn baby in a stable wrapped in a manger. Listening to the shepherds share their story of the angel telling them the good news, “that will cause great joy for all the people,” while Mary pondered in her heart about what was said. God had chosen her baby to bring hope and light to all the world. Finally, God did not select high-profile people of the time, but shepherds, who would rejoice and share in the news of the Savior’s birth. We need to be like the shepherds and continue to spread the good word of the birth of Jesus by rejoicing, singing, and dancing. We are blessed to hear the good news of Jesus. Now let’s go into the world and let our light shine!

Prayer:

Welcome, baby Jesus! We are so grateful to get to witness your light. We are excited about the great things you will do in your life! But the best is yet to come! From this day forward, we will praise and love you always!
